Black Friday is here, and everyone is probably busy shopping. eBay also has some great deals—and these can actually make you money!

Overview of the Black Friday eBay Gift Card Deals

You can see the full list of discounted gift cards here: eBay discounted gift card link. These include:

How to Profit

First, if you can use the gift cards above yourself, of course they can save you a good amount of money. But if you simply want to make money by buying and reselling gift cards, that works too. Below I’ll walk through the best strategy step by step, using the Toy R Us gift card as the example (now sold out! The profit on Lowe's will be a bit smaller).

Buy eBay Gift Cards on Raise (earn $15 + credit card cash back + portal cash back)

If you don’t have a Raise account yet, you can first buy discounted eBay gift cards through Raise, a gift card marketplace, while also earning shopping portal rewards. Here are the steps:

  • Click here to register for a new Raise account
  • After registering and verifying your phone number, you will receive $5 in rewards in your account (earn $5)
  • Click here to register for or log in to TopCashback
  • Go to Raise through TopCashback, search for eBay gift cards, and buy a total of $170 in eBay gift cards (earn $3 cash back)
  • At checkout, use code raise10 to get $10 off (earn $10)
  • Pay with a Citi AT&T card or the credit card that gives you the highest cash back (earn $3-$5)

So in total, you’re effectively spending about $150 to get $170 worth of eBay gift cards.

Buy Toy R Us Gift Cards on eBay (earn $5.4)

  • Click here to go to TopCashback and search for eBay
  • On eBay, buy two $100 Toy R Us gift cards
  • Check out using the $170 eBay gift cards you just bought (earn $2 in TCB cash back + $3.4 in eBay Bucks)

That means you earn another $5.4 here.

Sell the Toy R Us Gift Cards You Just Bought on Cardpool

Cardpool is a site for buying and selling gift cards. I’ve sold some gift cards there before, and it seems pretty reliable. They also provide a free USPS First Class label, which saves you the cost of mailing the gift cards. (If you use saveya.com, you can sell at 87.5%, but you have to pay for shipping yourself.)

  • Click here to register for or log in to Cardpool (new users can get $5 to use toward future gift card purchases)
  • Go to the sell gift card section and search for Toy R Us. You’ll see that a $100 gift card can be sold for $87.5
  • Sell the two Toy R Us gift cards you just bought (get back $174)
fff

After selling the gift cards, you get back $174.

Profit Calculation

  • Out-of-pocket cost: $150 - $5.4 cash back = $145
  • Cash received back: $174
  • Total profit: $30
  • If you do not already have Raise, TCB, and Cardpool accounts, the return is about 20%
  • If you already have Raise, TCB, and Cardpool accounts, the return is about 10%

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Because this eBay arbitrage deal is profitable, the gift cards that can be flipped for a profit will sell out quickly, so act fast
  • Lowe's gift cards can be sold for 84% of face value, so those can also be profitable to flip as well (if sold through saveya.com)
  • Selling gift cards carries some risk, such as loss in the mail, so weigh that risk yourself
