WeChat reader tjfhx shared a DP: when booking a Shenzhen Airlines ticket (SZX-PEK) through Avianca LifeMiles, you may run into a situation where you cannot check in at the airport in person. The ticket can be found in the system, but you still cannot board. Screenshot below:
If this happens, you only have two options:
- Give up boarding
- Buy a full-fare ticket at the airport
tjfhx’s DP is not an isolated case. Someone also reported a similar issue to loyaltylobby. In that article, the itinerary was Shenzhen Airlines SZX-SHA, and check-in was also not possible; in the end, that traveler also had to buy a full-fare ticket on the spot.
However, AV-issued CA tickets do not seem to have this problem. For award bookings in the near term, it may be best to avoid AV-ZH.
