Delta SkyMiles is once again offering a promotion for earning bonus miles through partner activity. During the promotion period, if you earn Delta miles with eligible Delta partners, Delta will also award an extra 1,000 miles for each partner.

Promotion details

If you have not earned any Delta SkyMiles from a given partner category between March 24, 2016 and March 23, 2017 (based on the transaction date, not the date the miles post), you can earn an extra 1,000 SkyMiles by making one qualifying purchase by June 30.

Airline partners

You can earn Delta miles by flying SkyTeam airlines. In addition, Alaska Airlines and Virgin Atlantic are also airline partners of Delta. Note that you must have had no mileage-earning activity with partner airlines at all during the past year for this to qualify.

Hotels and Airbnb

 You can earn extra Delta miles by booking hotels or Airbnb through Delta.

Credit cards

If you have not used any Delta credit card in the past year, or if you just applied for your first Delta credit card, you can make a small purchase on the card to earn this extra 1,000-mile bonus.

SkyMiles Shopping and SkyMiles Dining

SkyMiles Shopping is an online shopping portal where you can earn airline miles. SkyMiles Dining is a dining rewards platform where you link a credit card online and earn miles when you use that linked card at participating restaurants. These two platforms count as two separate partner categories in this promotion, so you can earn up to 2,000 miles total from them.

Car rentals and ground transportation

You can visit this link to book rental cars or transportation services such as SuperShuttle through Delta’s platform. Both can earn extra miles.

Cruises

This option is generally not the best value, but you can book cruises through Delta SkyMiles Cruise to earn extra miles. Be sure to compare cruise prices elsewhere, since paying more would not be worth it. SkyMiles Shopping and Delta credit cards may be the easiest ways to earn these extra miles. If you have not earned miles with Delta partners in the past year, this is a promotion worth considering.
