Delta recently announced that one-way and round-trip award tickets departing from Europe will no longer have Delta fuel surcharges. Lower taxes alone are not enough—when will required miles also be reduced?
Earlier, a traveler showed a one-way ticket from Frankfurt to JFK that was as high as €297 in taxes and fees!
Now that cost has dropped to just €143. That is only the actual taxes, with no extra Delta fuel surcharge.
I checked several other Europe to U.S. routes, and Delta-operated flights are no longer charging a fuel surcharge.
However, it is worth noting that for non-Delta-operated flights, the surcharge still exists.
