Consumer Cellular is a U.S.-based MVNO founded in 1995. It offers postpaid mobile service, and also has no-contract plans, using the AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Right now, if you activate any Consumer Cellular plan through cashback portals such as Rakuten/Swagbucks/MyPoints, you can get $40/$25/$30 back. Since the cheapest plan costs $20/month, you can effectively come out ahead by $20/$5/$10 plus one month of phone service.
If you do not yet have a Rakuten/Swagbucks account, feel free to sign up through the referral links below:
- Rakuten referral signup link ($40 signup bonus after spending $25)
- Swagbucks referral signup link (300SB+1000SB signup bonus after spending $25)
At the moment, the highest cashback seems to be through Capital One Shopping, where some people have received targeted offers for $60/$90/$105/$120/$150 and other amounts.
In addition, some Chase/BoA/US bank credit cards have a Consumer Cellular offer of $20 back on $20 spent. I have one offer on my BoA card, and all four of my Chase cards have the offer.
If you have multiple Consumer Cellular offers, you can prepay your phone bill in advance, then cancel the account after one month of service. Note that Consumer Cellular is a postpaid account, so if you do not cancel it, it will auto renew by default. If you leave an unpaid balance, it may affect your credit history, so be sure to cancel the service on time. After the account is canceled, if the overpaid amount exceeds $25, Consumer Cellular will mail a refund to the billing address on file within three months after account cancellation. See:
