Domestic life is gradually getting back on track, so for June 1 I took my parents out to celebrate and headed to Sanya during the off-season, when the crowds were lighter, for some sun and water fun. I chose the Conrad Sanya Haitang Bay, a property I'd had my eye on for a long time. Not only can you enjoy sweeping ocean views, you can also experience an extremely private villa stay. This time I used 40,000 points to book one night in a townhouse garden-view villa, and after my parents called ahead, the dedicated butler assigned to them helped upgrade us to a detached pool villa, which was very satisfying and had a cash value of about RMB 2,000. Exterior and Lobby
Boasting the best ocean views and beach in Haitang Bay, the hotel adopts a French Renaissance-inspired European architectural style overall. The noble elegance collides with tropical flair to create a striking new look. The hotel has 92 rooms, townhouses, and detached villas, each hidden among lush tropical gardens, like tiny islands standing alone in the world. As a result, even the hotel's highest point—the reception lobby—cannot take in the entire property at once; you can only explore it step by step and appreciate it gradually.
The hotel's overall design is symmetrically arranged along a central axis, extending straight to the beach and facing Wuzhizhou Island in the distance. The hotel provides golf carts, making it easy to get around.
The public pool covers a large area, but because so few people are using it now, it feels more decorative than practical. The hotel's enclosed private beach is beautiful, and reading or taking a nap on a lounge chair is as pleasant as it gets.
Detached Pool Villa
The understated yet luxurious European-style courtyard design is very eye-catching. Once you open the door, you are greeted by lush greenery. A shaded path leads to a rest pavilion ahead, and around the corner is your private pool. The pool, roughly 5m*7m, isn't small at all and is big enough for playing around, with trees providing shade so you're not afraid of the sun.
The villa has a total area of 220 square meters, with 63 square meters indoors. Floor-to-ceiling windows on both sides make the room feel spacious and bright. The king bed in the master bedroom faces the pool, so when you wake up and open your eyes, you can see the greenery and shimmering water in the courtyard.
The mini bar doesn't have much, but it's enough. Two bottles of juice, Sprite, Coke, and Vita Tea.
The bathroom has a separate dry and wet area. Two sinks are located on either side of the bathtub, and there's a small TV for watching while soaking. The toiletries are by Crabtree & Evelyn.
Dining
As a Conrad built to the standards of a six-star hotel, I don't think the afternoon tea and breakfast are especially impressive, and there aren't many varieties either. They are just average. That said, Conrad's breakfast stands out because it includes à la carte dishes such as fish fillet, steak, Wenchang chicken, and more, which are quite distinctive. I heard that during the pandemic, breakfast was delivered to rooms individually; now that things are back on track, breakfast has returned to a buffet.
One small downside my parents mentioned was that the hotel staff felt a bit cold and not very warm. But that may also have been related to the pandemic, which is understandable. Overall, it was still a very good stay experience.
