Virgin America Credit Card

This Virgin America Credit Card is the lower-tier option of the two co-branded credit cards issued for Virgin America, with a $49 annual fee. Compared with the higher-end Virgin America Premium, this card has slightly fewer benefits and is a better fit for people who only fly with them occasionally.

  • Earn 3x Elevate points on Virgin America purchases and 1x Elevate points on all other purchases.
  • Flying on Virgin America gives you priority boarding and one free checked bag.
  • After opening the card, each time you pay the annual fee you will receive a $150 Companion discount certificate, which can be used on Virgin America round-trip flights.
  • You get 20% off purchases on Virgin America’s inflight entertainment system, but this does not apply to Gogo inflight Wi-Fi.
  • This card has a very premium-looking design.
  • As long as you hold this credit card, your Virgin America Elevate points will never expire.

Virgin America Credit Card Cons

Should You Apply?

Compared with the premium version, the Virgin America Premium, this card only removes the elite-qualifying points and free ticket change/cancellation benefits. For people who do not fly with them very often, the Companion discount certificate can still be useful. If you can use it every year, this credit card can continue to justify its annual fee. That’s before even considering the benefits of priority boarding and a free checked bag. Of course, this card does add a foreign transaction fee, but since the main way to earn points on this card is through spending with Virgin America, that drawback does not matter too much. Overall, this card offers solid value. Have you ever applied for the Virgin America Credit Card? Come share your experience with everyone.
