According to DOC, these two cards are expected to launch soon. Citi Strata will be a credit card that can be compared with the AMEX Platinum, and it will also come with a lot of statement credits. But according to the analysis there, the card does not seem very attractive right now, so it remains to be seen whether Citi will make any changes before the final launch. Let’s wait and see. Citi definitely wants a share of the premium credit card market. As for Strata Premier, it should correspond to the current Citi Premier, so it will probably just be a name change, at most with a few minor statement credits, and not much else.

News from February 2023

According to DOC, Citi will launch two new credit cards later in April, Citi Strata Premier and Citi Strata Elite. Both cards had their trademarks filed last year, which is generally a sign that a new product is being prepared.

Citi’s product lineup is actually already pretty complete. For no-annual-fee cards, there are Double Cash, Custom cash, and Reward+, among others. In the mid-tier category, there is Citi Premier, and at the premium end there is Citi Prestige (currently unavailable for application). So it is reasonable to guess that these two cards may replace the existing Citi Premier and Prestige, and then reopen applications under the Citi Strata Elite name. Citi Premier’s benefits likely won’t change much, since it is already a very well-rounded credit card. Strata Elite, on the other hand, should become the higher-end replacement for Premier, with more benefits or better points earning rates.
