Citi filed a trademark application for “Citi Clear Cash” in the United States on June 18, 2026. Based on the application, the trademark covers services such as credit card issuance, payment processing, cash back, and points rewards, and it is likely intended for a new cash-back credit card.
- Trademark name: Citi Clear Cash
- Filing date: June 18, 2026
- Applicant: Citigroup Inc.
- Trademark serial number: 99894308
- Current status: New application, not yet assigned to an examiner
- Trademark application page
The timing of this filing is worth noting. Citi has stopped accepting new applications for the Citi Custom Cash credit card since May 28, 2026, but existing cardholders are not affected for now and can continue using their current cards and benefits.
As a result, Citi Clear Cash could become Citi’s new cash-back card product, or take over Custom Cash’s place in the product lineup. However, Citi has not officially announced this card yet, and there is no information on a welcome bonus, annual fee, cash-back rate, or launch date. A trademark filing does not mean a product will definitely be released; for now, it should only be seen as a sign of something new in the pipeline. My guess is that since it says "clear," it will definitely have no annual fee, and the cash-back categories will probably be relatively straightforward.
Citi already issues a similarly named Citi Clear Card in the Hong Kong market, but it is still unclear whether the U.S. version will take a similar approach. If specific card benefits or an application page appear later, we will continue to update this post.
