There is currently a 50% bonus on purchasing Choice Hotel points, which brings the cost down to 0.68c/p. Combined with the transfer promotion below, that works out to buying miles at 0.86c/p, which is pretty solid.
If you buy 180,000 points, you get a 90,000-point bonus, so 270,000 points cost $1,854 total, which comes out to 0.68c/p.
Also worth mentioning again: Citi TYP transfers to Choice at 1:2, which can also be a very good deal when paired with this promotion.
Choice Hotel currently has a nice transfer promotion: transfers to Qantas or Virgin Australia receive a 100% bonus, bringing the transfer ratio to 2,000 points for 1,600 miles. Choice points are generally worth about 0.6c/p, so converting them into higher-value miles can be a good deal. This is especially true for the two redemptions mentioned below.

Qantas is great for short domestic flights within the US: AA flights of 600 miles or less cost only 8,000 miles, which under this promotion requires just 10,000 Choice points. Virgin Australia also has some good business-class sweet spots for international flights under 3,600 miles. For example, New York to London costs about 50,000 miles, which converts to only 62,000 Choice points.
