Recently, the Choice Privileges hotel rewards program made some changes. Previously, all hotels could be redeemed for no more than 35,000 points, but that cap has now been removed. Some higher-end hotels in particular saw noticeable increases, now costing 40,000 to 45,000 points per night.
Previously, outside of the Asia-Pacific region, where awards were capped at 75,000 points per night, Choice Privileges redemptions in all other regions topped out at 35,000 points. Now, the website only says that “reward nights start at 8,000 points.” This appears to be a stealth devaluation, reducing the value of points.
