To further facilitate cross-border travel between Chinese and foreign nationals, it has been decided that, starting at 12:00 a.m. Beijing time on [year][month][day], the following adjustments will be made to visa and entry policies for foreign nationals traveling to China:
- 1. The entry function of visas issued before [year][month][day] that remain valid will be restored.
- 2. Chinese visa-issuing authorities overseas will resume accepting and issuing all categories of visas for foreign nationals traveling to China. For specific requirements, please refer to the visa application instructions.
- 3. Port visa authorities will resume accepting and issuing various port visas for eligible statutory reasons.
- 4. Visa-free entry policies will resume for Hainan, Shanghai cruise arrivals, foreign tour groups from Hong Kong and Macau entering Guangdong, and ASEAN tour groups entering Guilin, Guangxi.
The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. also posted the same notice on its official website and at its offices.
In addition, according to reports from readers, new applications are no longer being accepted from people whose 10-year visas are still valid. Applications are being accepted only from first-time applicants or those whose visas have already expired.
We have just received notice from the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago. They have just received notice from China that old 10-year visas will resume validity on March 15. The formal notice will be released in the next day or two. The visa section is also no longer accepting new visa applications from applicants who already hold a still-valid 10-year visa (with more than 3 months of validity remaining). However, they are accepting applications from first-time applicants or those whose visas have expired. Therefore, we have decided to return the application materials for everyone who already has a 10-year visa.
