Today (May 27), California Governor Newsom announced a new Vax for the Win program to encourage California residents to get vaccinated before the state reopens on June 15. To qualify for the offers below, you only need to:

  • Live in California;
  • Not be incarcerated; and
  • Be at least 12 years old

You are eligible regardless of whether you are a U.S. citizen or your immigration status. Official website: click here.

$50 Gift Card

For people who have not previously received a vaccine, getting a COVID vaccine starting today will earn you a redemption code (limited to the first 2 million people, ordered by first-dose time). After completing your second dose (or after the first dose for Jenssen), you can redeem it online for:

  • a $50 Safeway gift card (Albertsons, Vons);
  • a $50 Kroger gift card (Ralph's, Food 4 Less); or
  • a $50 Visa/MasterCard gift card (which can be added to a mobile wallet)

Basically, everyone who qualifies can get one, so this is a good time to get moving. Unfortunately, if you have already received one dose or completed vaccination earlier, you are not eligible.

Lottery Drawings

For California residents age 12+ who have already received at least one dose, there are also the following drawings:

  • On June 4, 15 people will be drawn to receive $50,000 each;
  • On June 11, 15 people will be drawn to receive $50,000 each; and
  • On June 15, 10 people will be drawn to receive $1,500,000 each

Unlike a regular lottery, the list of vaccine lottery winners will not be made public. Wishing everyone good luck.
