I’m sure this site’s readers are already very familiar with the various Marriott co-branded cards issued by AMEX/Chase in the U.S. But AMEX Canada also issues two Marriott co-branded cards (one personal card and one business card). The Marriott personal card recently rolled out a record-high 110,000-point sign-up bonus, so here is a short side post introducing these two cards.

AMEX Canada Marriott Bonvoy (Personal Card)
Overview
- Sign-up bonus: 110,000 points (in the first 6 months, spend $6,000 CAD for 80,000 points; in the 15th month, one additional transaction gets 30,000 points, which is basically paying the second year annual fee). The deadline for this all-time-high sign-up bonus offer is April 7, 2026.
- Earning: 5x points on Marriott purchases, 2x points on all other purchases.
- Redemption: Can redeem at Marriott properties, and can transfer to airline miles at a 6:2.5 ratio.
- Annual fee: $120 CAD (approximately $88 USD).

Benefits
- The 110,000-point historical best sign-up bonus is currently available, and the spending window is much longer than usual (it used to be only three months).
- Annual free night certificate: Starting in the second year, after paying the annual fee each year, cardholders can receive one free night certificate with the same value as the 35,000-point certificate offered by the U.S. AMEX/Chase co-branded card. Since this card’s annual fee is even slightly lower than the U.S. 35,000-point free night Marriott co-branded card, it is very worthwhile to hold long term and is one of the best long-term-hold cards among Canadian credit cards.
- Cardholders automatically receive Marriott Silver Elite status and 15 annual elite-qualifying nights. Note: unlike the way qualifying nights stack on U.S. personal/business cards, these 15 qualifying nights cannot be stacked with the qualifying nights awarded by the Canada Marriott Business Card. In addition, they cannot be stacked with qualifying nights from the U.S. Marriott co-branded cards.
- Insurance coverage: flight delay insurance, baggage delay insurance, hotel theft insurance, baggage loss or theft insurance, $500,000 travel accidental insurance, auto rental theft and damage insurance, travel emergency assistance, buyer protection program, and purchase protection program. Keep in mind that nearly all of these coverages only apply when related airfare/hotel/car rental charges and similar expenses are paid in full with this card.

My Take
Canada’s Marriott personal and business cards have mostly the same benefits, and as a long-term card they clearly offer strong value relative to the annual fee once you factor in the yearly free night certificate. The Marriott personal card with a $120 CAD annual fee should be the lowest annual-fee Marriott co-branded card globally that provides a 35,000-point free night certificate every year. If you want two 35,000-point certificates each year, the business card can also be worth holding long term.
For readers who already have a U.S. AMEX card, you can consider applying via Global Transfer, then pair it with a Wise CAD account for payment.
Note: Holding any Marriott co-branded card from another region or having taken the sign-up bonus from Marriott co-branded cards in other regions does not affect the sign-up bonus for these two Canada cards. In addition, like most Canadian cards, both cards have foreign currency conversion fees, so they are generally suitable only for CAD spending.
