British Airways has recently slashed the fee for sharing miles. Transferring miles from one account to another now costs just $20 for 27,000 miles, down from $200 before. That’s actually a pretty reasonable fee. If you are a Gold member, sharing miles is free.

There are still some limits on sharing miles. Each calendar year, you can send at most 27,000 miles into a single account, although the total amount you can transfer out of one account is 162,000. If you really need to move miles, one option is to transfer 27,000 miles to each family member, then book through BA Household Account.
