Marriott officially filed the Marriott Bonvoy BRILLIANT BUSINESS trademark on August 28, and the service categories directly include financial services such as credit card issuance, credit card payment processing, and credit card authorization. The name is about as straightforward as it gets, and it is very likely preparing for a business version of Brilliant.

This also lines up with the user survey AMEX sent out earlier. At the time, AMEX was testing a new premium Marriott Business Card and even asked what benefits would make users accept an annual fee of around $600. Now that an official trademark has been filed, this card is increasingly looking like it may be on the way, though a trademark application by itself does not mean the card will definitely launch.

Currently, the AMEX Marriott Business offers 15 Elite Nights and an annual 35,000-point free night certificate; the personal Brilliant offers 25 Elite Nights, an 85,000-point free night certificate, and Marriott Platinum status. The biggest things to watch next are whether Brilliant Business will offer more Elite Nights, an 85,000-point free night certificate, or even complimentary Platinum status. If it really reaches the Brilliant tier, it would be very interesting for people working toward Marriott Titanium, because Elite Nights from Marriott business cards can stack with those from personal cards. For now, the specific annual fee, benefits, and launch timing have not been announced. Keep this card on your radar, and we will continue to follow up when there is more news.
