About the Luxury Card Rewards Program
The Titanium Card uses the same rewards program as the Black and Gold cards: Luxury Card Rewards. However, redemption rates vary by card. Titanium points are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for cash, but 2 cents each when redeemed for airfare. So if you plan to earn points with this card, redeeming them for airfare offers better value.
- Cash redemptions: 1 cent per point, so 50,000 points can be redeemed for $500 in cash, either as a statement credit or a deposit to a U.S. bank account.
- Airfare redemptions: 2 cents per point, so 50,000 points can be redeemed for $1,000 in airfare through designated channels such as LuxuryCardTravel.com.
- Point expiration: The issuer says points have no set expiration date and there is no standard cap on how many points you can earn. However, I recommend redeeming your points before closing your account.
I find this kind of fixed-value redemption easy to understand. If you already buy airfare, saving your points for flights effectively gives you 2% back on everyday purchases, without having to learn about airline alliances and award tickets. Still, compare the redemption price with the airline’s website before booking so you don’t end up paying more for a ticket just to use your points.
My Take
The Titanium Card has a clear place in the Luxury Card lineup: for a $299 annual fee, it offers Priority Pass, concierge service, and hotel benefits similar to those on the premium Black and Gold cards. It has fewer credits and a lower cash redemption rate, but if your main priorities are airport lounges and travel benefits, I think this card is well worth considering.
Priority Pass is the standout benefit. Many premium credit cards have dropped airport restaurant benefits or started limiting the number of free guests, while Luxury Card continues to offer these perks. As the lowest-annual-fee card in the lineup, the Titanium provides unlimited Priority Pass Select visits for $299, and the issuer also allows you to bring guests at no charge.
For the long term, I think the Titanium is especially well suited to these types of cardholders:
- People who often travel with family or friends: You want unlimited Priority Pass visits and free access to airport lounges or participating restaurants for your guests, too.
- People who often use Priority Pass airport restaurants: If airports you visit regularly have participating restaurants, you could save a significant amount on meals over time.
- People who enjoy upscale hotel perks: You often stay at Luxury Card Travel partner hotels and can use the complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, and hotel credits.
- People who want premium travel services for a relatively low annual fee: You don’t need the extra credits on the Black and Gold cards and care more about airport benefits, concierge service, and a metal card.
In conclusion, Luxury Card is a premium credit card that is all about simplicity. Luxury Card concentrates the value of rewards at redemption rather than requiring cardmembers to optimize where they spend, as many other complex credit card programs do. As a result, Luxury Card is an everyday, top-of-wallet card that can be used broadly without giving up premium travel, protection, and insurance benefits across a wider range of purchases. With elevated travel perks such as widespread airport lounge access, travel concierge services, and easy-to-redeem rewards, Luxury Card has a strong position in the travel and premium credit card spaces. Barclays Application Guide
The Titanium Card is issued by Barclays Bank Delaware, and its application requirements are similar to those for other Barclays credit cards. The issuer describes this card as a good fit for applicants with a strong credit history. Barclays also pays close attention to recent credit reports, the number of recently opened accounts, and hard inquiries. Here are a few points to keep in mind:
- Barclays credit card applications generally involve a TransUnion (TU) inquiry, though this may vary by location.
- If you already have another Barclays credit card, you may need to adjust your existing credit limits when applying.
- If your application is denied, you can try calling the reconsideration line at 866-408-4064. Explain why you applied and provide details about your income and credit history. Some applications may be reconsidered through a manual review.
- There is currently no confirmed public welcome offer for the Titanium Card. Check the final application page for the latest offer before applying; do not assume the Black Card’s 75,000-point offer applies to this card.
- The issuer currently offers a 0% Balance Transfer Intro APR: complete an eligible Balance Transfer within 45 days of opening the account to receive a 0% APR for the first 15 Billing Cycles. A 5% transfer fee, with a $5 minimum, still applies. This is separate from the rate offer on purchases.
