[2022.11 Update] The deadline to submit a claim has been extended to January 7, 2023. If you qualify, don’t forget to fill out the form and claim your compensation.

About this class action

This class action involves several major auto parts manufacturers. The plaintiffs allege that these manufacturers conspired to fix prices for certain parts, which inflated parts prices and, in turn, increased the price consumers paid for vehicles. The defendants agreed to settle without admitting liability, and the settlement has received preliminary court approval (court-approved notice). Because the defendants include several well-known parts manufacturers and the affected vehicles cover nearly all makes and models sold in the US, there is a good chance you may be eligible if you have purchased a new car.

If you bought a new car, leased a new car, or paid out of pocket to replace certain covered auto parts, you can register to receive part of the settlement. The current estimate is that each person may receive more than $100 in cash compensation. Note: vehicles or parts purchased in certain states are not included in this lawsuit, so they are not eligible for compensation. See the eligibility requirements below.

Eligibility for compensation for buying a new car

You must

  • have purchased or leased a new car between 1990 and 2019 (used cars do not qualify, but it still counts if you later sold the new car);
  • not have purchased the car for resale purposes (dealers are excluded);
  • have a vehicle model included on this list;
  • have purchased the new car in one of the blue states shown in the map below (where you live now does not matter).

If you bought multiple vehicles, you may be eligible for multiple payments.

Eligibility for compensation for buying auto parts

You must have purchased one of the auto parts listed in the settlement materials (please refer to question 5 in the FAQ and use the dropdown menu to select the relevant part name). The covered parts here are generally major components, so routine items like oil changes or air filters typically do not apply. If you paid out of pocket to replace a covered part, it does not matter whether the vehicle was new or used; you may still qualify for compensation.

The replacement part must also have been purchased in one of the blue states shown above to qualify.

How to file

Use the link below to submit your claim. The deadline listed here is June 18, so we recommend filing as soon as possible:

You will need your vehicle’s VIN to complete the form. If you can’t find it, we suggest logging into your auto insurance company’s website to look it up.

Other options

Because the deadlines to exclude yourself from the class and to object to the settlement have already passed, your legal rights may already be limited at this point. You may attend the final settlement hearing on June 17. Or you can seek your own legal advice and take legal action on your own.

If you qualify, go claim your money!
