This Event

Long time no see, everyone. I’ve been lazy before and didn’t keep this event going, but now let’s continue!

This event will have a set theme: “Share how you got burned.” After playing cards and chasing deals for so long, everyone is bound to have had a moment of carelessness and ended up getting burned. For example, I personally have experienced a great card getting shut down after not being used for too long, resulting in a loss of $200*N, forgetting to pay a bill and getting hit with a late fee, and having points confiscated, among other rookie mistakes. Feel free to share stories around this theme. If there are common got-burned issues, we will also write a separate post on how to avoid some of these common situations.

To liven things up, this event also offers prizes. Details are as follows:

  • Time: 11/15/2020, this Sunday, 11am-11pm Eastern Time, 10am-10pm Central Time, 8am-8pm Pacific Time
  • Location: The comments section of this post
  • Topic: Experiences of getting burned
  • Prizes:
    • $10 x 5 stocks: Five readers who participate in the discussion topic (including replies) will be randomly selected, and each will receive one $10 stock provided by Moomoo (worth a little over $10). So if you don’t already have this app, feel free to sign up using the link below. (If you can’t register, you’ll have to give the opportunity to someone else.)
    • $50 Amazon gift card: The site author will vote to select the most miserable got-burned experience and award a consolation prize.
    • Note: Off-topic posts and spam comments will not be counted, but they are not prohibited.
  • Restrictions: Political topics are prohibited. Personal attacks are prohibited. Any such comments will be deleted and will disqualify you from this prize event.

Note that the comments section of this post will only be open during the event period. Any attempt to obtain prizes through improper means will be disqualified.

If participation is strong, we may consider increasing the prizes later!

About Moomoo

First of all, thanks to Moomoo for sponsoring this Ask Me Anything event!

Moomoo is an investing app from Futu in the U.S. The brokerage entity is Futu inc. They are a legitimate U.S.-licensed securities broker and a member of SPIC and FINRA. In addition to commission-free stock trading, Moomoo also provides free Level2 market depth data. Based on my own experience, it’s been pretty good. It has a lot of professional features, the interface is also quite friendly, and seeing Chinese naturally feels a bit more familiar.
