Ever since UA Travel became reloadable again, it has been the go-to option for people using up the AMEX airline fee credit. Although the balance expires after only 5 years, this is not a “refund-based” play, so the risk of ClawBack is very low.

For a long time, when funding Travel Bank, the transaction details would show the purchaser’s name (the passenger). But recently (possibly starting last December, or maybe it was already showing as Travel Bank as early as last August; HT: Dennis Ma), the transaction description changed and now directly shows “Travel Bank,” which makes this workaround feel a lot more obvious... 🤣

Same advice as always: get reimbursed early for peace of mind, and use it early for even more peace of mind!

At the moment, a single $250 charge is still being reimbursed. That said, to be safe, I’d recommend doing a smaller amount.
