According to a DP from our WeChat group, after entering March, deep-pocketed AMEX lowered the referral bonus on the standard AMEX Platinum card from 15,000 MR per referral to 5,000 MR per referral. The co-branded versions (Schwab, MS, etc.) are still at $100 per referral and have not been adjusted for now. H/T: WeChat readers “Y” and “W2 出 12w MR”.
Note that not long ago, AMEX had just increased the AMEX Green referral bonus to 10,000 per referral, and Gold to 15,000-20,000 per referral. Not sure why, in this round, they cut the standard Platinum card’s referral bonus by so much.
Some readers even had the referral feature on their Platinum card directly banned, with no referrals allowed (no self-refer before; H/T: WeChat reader “31岁童颜大叔”), or reduced to 10,000 per referral (H/T: Mali).
If you have an AMEX Platinum, you may want to check whether AMEX has “picked” you.
