09/10 Update: Based on reader DPs, there may be three offers:

  • Spend $500 and earn 5,000 MR, up to four cards, HT: OwenHHH
  • Spend $250 and receive $25, up to four cards, HT: Tianxiang
  • Spend $250 and earn 2,500 MR, up to four cards, see below.

Today, KUKU was lucky to be selected by AMEX. I received an email with an AMEX Every Day card supplementary offer: spend $250, get 2,500 MR, and add up to four cards. Link below:

You can also check if it appears in the online-banking AMEX offer screen. If you did not receive the email or AMEX offer push, it is likely that your registration was not successful.

What’s interesting is that AMEX now seems to have started enforcing a new rule:

  • If you add multiple supplementary cards at once, the same SSN can only be used once.

(Note: A supplementary card offer does not need an SSN added; you just need to complete spending within 60 days. Since I plan to use it long-term, adding the SSN is more convenient.)

I helped family and friends add supplementary cards. One person planned to add two and did not want AMEX to pop up that an SSN could only be added once. It seems that previously quite a few people added multiple times with one SSN, and that made AMEX unhappy.

To bypass this, you can add them separately, or skip adding the SSN at first and fill it in later.

Because AMEX supplementary cards affect the Chase 524 policy, I personally suggest this offer be used for family and friends in mainland China who do not have an SSN. Just complete the required spend. After 60 days, AMEX will close the supplementary card. Once closed, you may get targeted again in the next round.
