About the Centurion Lounge
AMEX offers access to many different airport lounge networks, with more than 1,400 airport lounges across 140 countries/regions. These include access to Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass lounges, Plaza Premium Lounges, Delta SkyClubs, and more. Among them, the Centurion Lounge is operated by AMEX itself and generally offers a more premium experience, including complimentary chef-prepared meals, free drinks, shower suites, dedicated children/family areas, and even spa services.
In fact, AMEX Centurion Lounges are found at major airports around the world, not just in the United States, which puts the network well ahead of many competitors.

Entry requirements
To enter a Centurion Lounge, you need to present an eligible AMEX card, a same-day boarding pass, and a government-issued photo ID. Starting February 1, 2023, if you want to bring a guest, you need to purchase a day pass for $50 per person (or $30 for each child ages 2-17). However, if you spent more than $75,000 on the card in the previous calendar year, you can bring up to two guests for free on each visit. Eligible cards are listed below:
- AMEX Platinum Card
- AMEX Business Platinum Card
- AMEX Platinum Card (Charles Schwab)
- AMEX Platinum (Morgan Stanley)
- AMEX Centurion Card
- Authorized users on Platinum and Centurion cards (only the $195 authorized user qualifies; the free Companion Card does not)
In addition, if you hold the Business Delta Reserve or the Delta Reserve and are flying Delta that same day, you can also enter for free.
Because so many people carry premium AMEX cards, lounge lines are common. AMEX is now gradually adding a waitlist feature in the App, allowing users to get in line before heading over. At the moment, only some lounges support this feature, and AMEX is working to expand it.
Other lounges
In addition to its own lounges, AMEX also partners with several other lounge brands. Beyond the commonly known Priority Pass, there are quite a few other options as well.
AMEX has 21 Escape Lounges worldwide. Currently, there are 15 locations in the United States and 6 in the United Kingdom. Escape Lounges focus on fresh, chef-curated food and high-quality beverages. To access a lounge, present your card, government-issued ID, and same-day boarding pass. In addition, you may bring in up to two guests for free.(Escape Lounge location finder)
Priority Pass has more than 1300 lounges worldwide. To access a Priority Pass lounge, you first need to enroll in Priority Pass Select membership. You can do this through the benefits section of your online AMEX account or by calling the number on the back of your card. The Priority Pass app includes a digital membership card. You may bring up to two guests into the lounge for free. Although Priority Pass also includes restaurants, sleep pods, spas, and other spaces, American Express cardholders can no longer access those.
Plaza Premium has nearly 150 premium lounges that you can access with your Platinum card. Present your Business Platinum card or AMEX Platinum card, a same-day boarding pass, and a government-issued ID for entry. You may bring two additional guests for free.(Plaza Premium lounge finder Delta Sky Club can also be accessed with your AMEX Platinum card. Starting February 1, 2025, Platinum cardholders will be limited to 10 visits per year. Delta Sky Club location finder)
