American Airlines recently announced that AA miles can now be redeemed for all Hawaiian Airlines award flights. Previously, miles could only be used for flights between Hawaii and international destinations, but now redemptions have also been added for travel between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii.
If you book directly through Hawaiian Airlines, you will earn miles based on a percentage of the flight distance, according to the chart below. Meanwhile, if you book through American Airlines, you will earn miles based on the amount spent. However, as before, miles earned on Hawaiian Airlines flights do not count toward Loyalty Points, so they cannot be used to help you qualify for elite status. This could change once Hawaiian Airlines joins the oneworld alliance.
