Amazon has lowered the minimum order amount for free shipping on its own website from $49 to $35.

This move by Amazon is likely a response to Walmart’s recent announcement that orders of $35 or more on Walmart.com qualify for free shipping. That said, Walmart still comes out ahead: qualifying Walmart orders are guaranteed to arrive within two days, while Amazon’s free shipping takes 5-8 days.
This change does not affect Amazon Prime members’ free two-day shipping.
