Amazon has officially launched its new “Auto Buy” feature, allowing Prime members to set a target price for items they want. When the price drops to or below that target, Amazon will automatically place the order.

Right now, the feature is available only to Prime members, and the item must be fulfilled by Amazon. Users also need to set up a default payment method and delivery address in advance. In the Amazon App, users can create a request through the “Set price alert” button on a product page or by entering a command with the Rufus assistant. Alexa+ users can also set it up with a voice command, such as “Alexa, buy this for me when the price drops below $100.”

Once the request is set, Amazon will monitor the item’s price and automatically place the order when the target is met. Users will receive order confirmation notifications by email and in the App. If the purchase fails because of an invalid payment method, out-of-stock status, or other issues, users will also be notified.

A few limitations apply: each item can have only one Auto Buy request, and each request can purchase only one unit. Promotional discounts also cannot be stacked with this feature. Each user may have up to 200 active requests at the same time. Through Rufus or Alexa, users can update the target price or cancel a request at any time. After an order is placed, it can still be canceled in “Your Orders” within 24 hours.

This feature gives Prime members a smarter, more hands-off shopping experience, especially during big sale events or when planning purchases for products with frequent price swings.
