Doc said today that he received reliable information that several US Bank credit cards earning FlexPerks points will be discontinued on March 9. Compared with issuers like AMEX and Chase, US Bank is generally seen as weaker in terms of service, and many people consider it a lower-tier bank. [KUKU actually likes US Bank credit cards quite a bit, since both Cash+ and US Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite are good cards.]

A disappearing bonus is still a disappearing bonus. If you don’t have many cards left to apply for, it may be worth giving these a try.

  • US Bank Cash 365 American Express: currently offers a $150 welcome bonus and has no annual fee. This card is actually not a FlexPerks credit card, so it’s unclear whether Doc mixed something up. If not, then perhaps US Bank no longer wants to work with AMEX.

  • US Bank FlexPerks Travel Visa (Consumer): currently offers a 25,000-point welcome bonus, worth up to $375. Annual fee is $49, waived for the first year.

There is also another card, the US Bank FlexPerks Gold AMEX. Doc did not say whether this card will also be discontinued. (It’s possible Doc confused this one with Cash 365.) My guess is that it will probably be discontinued as well.
