Overview
Alaska Airlines has announced that its partnership with South American carrier LATAM will officially end on October 1, 2025. At that point, frequent flyers will no longer be able to use Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards to redeem LATAM tickets, and vice versa; mileage earning between the two programs will also be phased out. That means travelers hoping to use this partnership for trips within South America should act as soon as possible before the deadline.
Detailed timeline
Bookings made on or before August 31, 2025: Mileage can still be earned under the current rules, regardless of travel date.
Bookings made from September 1 through September 30, 2025: Mileage earning will be available only for flights traveled by December 31, 2025.
Bookings made on or after October 1, 2025, for travel on or after January 1, 2026: No mileage will be earned.
Starting October 1, 2025: Reciprocal award redemptions between the two frequent flyer programs will end completely. Atmos will no longer be able to redeem for LATAM flights, and LATAM Pass will no longer be able to redeem for Alaska Airlines flights.
Background
Since 2019, LATAM has built a deep partnership with Delta Air Lines. Delta holds an equity stake in the airline and has been advancing a joint venture across the Americas. At the same time, Alaska Airlines and Delta have long competed in markets such as Seattle. Given those competing interests, it is not surprising that LATAM and Alaska Airlines are now ending their close partnership.

The end of the Alaska Airlines-LATAM partnership is a significant change in the frequent flyer world. If you need to make a LATAM redemption through this partnership, you should do so before October 1, 2025, and ideally avoid making changes after that date. There may be more changes to come.
