Canada reopened in September to vaccinated travelers, regardless of where they are coming from.
Air Canada Aeroplan, the airline’s frequent flyer program, is part of Star Alliance. If you hold elite status with a US airline program other than United, you can now get matched to Air Canada elite status right away. To keep the status, you only need to fly one Air Canada round-trip flight by January 15, 2022 and credit it to Aeroplan. Since this Air Canada offer matches all higher elite tiers and the requirements are very easy, it may be worth considering if you want Star Alliance status. Here is the status match chart.
How to Participate
To participate, click the promotion link and fill out the form. If you are eligible, your account will be upgraded to the corresponding elite tier within 3 days. The address on your Aeroplan account must be in the United States.
The one thing to note is that after participating in this promotion, you will not be able to join another new Air Canada status match promotion for at least 2 years. Still, this offer is extremely easy to do, so I’d suggest acting sooner rather than later.
