Starting now through July 17, 2025, the Air Canada Aeroplan program is offering a points purchase promotion.
Different members may receive different incentives:
- Buy 5,000‑30,000 points, get a 55% bonus
- Buy 30,000–79,000 points, get a 75% bonus
- Buy 80,000+ points, get a 100% bonus
Please note that Aeroplan has recently raised the base cost of points purchases. Before this promotion, you could buy points at 0.035 CAD each (about 0.026 USD), and the current price is 0.0375 CAD each (about 0.028 USD). If you use a US credit card and provide a US billing address, the purchase is not subject to sales tax.
If you buy 500,000 Aeroplan points with a 100% bonus, you will receive a total of 1,000,000 Aeroplan points at a cost of 18,750 CAD (about 13,698 USD), which is 1.37 US cents per Aeroplan point.
Each account can buy up to 1,000,000 Aeroplan miles per year. The usual maximum per transaction is 250,000 miles, but during this promotion that limit has been increased to 500,000 miles.
Aeroplan mileage basics are as follows:
- Award pricing is based on region and distance
- No fuel surcharges
- One-way awards can add an extra 5,000 miles for a stopover
- Aeroplan has the largest number of airline partners
Please note that Aeroplan now applies dynamic award pricing to certain partners, including Emirates, Etihad, and Dubai Airlines.
