【2021.5 Update】This site has launched a pretty good new promotion: new users who register and link their AA credit card can receive 400 bonus miles right away. Existing users can activate a 2x rewards promotion.

【2020.2 Update】You can now register for this program even without an AA co-branded card. You just need to add a Mastercard and have an AA membership number. I took a look through the offers, and most of them are shopping merchants, like clothing and shoes. I added a few more useful offers. CVS, jcp, exxon, Best Buy, and walgreen all seem to have some potential for buying gift cards. You can give it a try as well.

About SimpleMiles

This is a miles-earning promotion from AA. If you have an AA co-branded credit card issued by Citi or Barclays, you can register for the Simple Miles miles-earning program. Add the offers you see on the website to your card, then make purchases with the corresponding card to earn a certain number of bonus miles. Since this promotion is directly tied to the card being used, it does not affect using a shopping portal for cashback, and it also does not affect the miles you normally earn from your AA card itself, so these are basically extra miles for free.

The following credit cards are currently eligible:

Citi / AAdvantage:

  • Citi / AAdvantage Executive Card
  • Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select Card
  • Citi / AAdvantage Gold Card
  • AAdvantage MileUp℠ Card
  • CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select Card
  • CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Select Card

AAdvantage Aviator:

  • Aviator Silver Mastercard
  • Aviator Red Mastercard
  • Aviator Blue Mastercard
  • Aviator Mastercard
  • Aviator Business Mastercard

What Offers Are Available

I registered using my Aviator Red card, and it looks like there are not many great offers. Most are stores I had never heard of.

I picked a few usable ones and added them.

How to Use It

  • Log in with your AA account. It may not necessarily have to be the account linked to your AA credit card.
  • Add your AA co-branded credit card.
  • Add the offers you want.

Summary

For now, the offers are not especially compelling. Hopefully they will add more merchants in the future that sell third-party gift cards or are more useful for everyday spending. I think credit cards in general are now trending more toward everyday spending rather than focusing only on travel purchases.
